Library Catalogue

 

Search the main catalogue for journals or books. Read the instructions before commencing your search or contact the Librarian for guidance on how to use this online resource.

 

Enter the Library Catalogue   

 

Instructions:

 

These instructions are for first time and inexperienced users. We recommend that experienced users enter the Library Catalogue and bookmark that page for rapid access in future.

 

Librarian's Tip: There is also a quick link to the catalogue from the BOA Library homepage.

 

To start a Search:

    • Select an Index from the drop down box
    • Enter a Search Term or Terms in the box below
    • Then either press Enter
      • OR click on the SEARCH button
      • OR use the shortcut keys Alt+S
    • This will retrieve matching records

Librarian's Tip: If you wish to restrict your search to material published within certain years you can enter those years in the Year from and Through to fields

 

To Browse an Index:

    • Select an Index from the drop down box
    • Enter a Search Term or Terms in the box below
    • Click on the BROWSE INDEX button
    • This will display a list of search indexes
    • and will show how your records will be retrieved
    • You can also click on any of the linked index terms
    • To view the records tied to that term

Clear Screen - will reset all fields ready for a new search

 

 

Phrase Searching:

 

This is an alternative to the usual Keyword searching and is applicable only to Titles, Author Series or Subject Searches

 

 

Librarian's Tip: The "phrase" entered must result in an exact match, or you must have an asterisk * at the end of the search term.
