The College has a Vision of a society where policy makers and the public understand the unique role optometrists play in providing the nation’s eye care, and recognise membership of the College as the guarantee of the best clinical and ethical standards from practitioners who put the welfare of patients before all other considerations
In order to achieve our Vision, our Mission is to provide the highest possible level of professional support for our members so that they, in turn, can provide the best level of professional service to the public.
The College Objects, as defined in our Royal Charter are:
- The improvement and conservation of human vision;
- The advancement for the public benefit of the study of and research into optometry and related subjects and the publication of the results thereof;
- The promotion and improvement for the public benefit of the science and practice of optometry;
- The maintenance for the public benefit of the highest possible standards of professional competence and conduct.
